Eldar Project WIP

So I finally moved my painting station back down to the living room for the Summer. It's much cooler down here!  I've primed most of the Eldar "Tron" Black, and I'm doing some test paints on some Dire Avengers. Here are some shots.

Here it is from Primed, to the test for the Red Tron look.

I've also got my hands on one of the OOP Eldar Grave tanks from Epic-Cast.
I'm going to give it the Tron treatment as well.
 Also working on a WraithLord:

-Cheers till next time.

Eldar Project Part II

When I've spent two weeks gluing/building the Eldar forces.  I had to wait a week to order bases for the Dreadnaughts and War Walkers. ($37 worth of bases). This weekend I will discuss the painting options for the two armies with my Son.  But I did have another idea...

When I do any kind of crafting, I watch Movies and TV, sort of background noise while I'm working.  I happened to watch the new Tron Legacy Movie, and the Uniforms hit me as perfect Eldar Paint jobs...
I love the Black and the Neon colors

Simple but very nice

This looks like Eldar armor to me

Just a thought
What do you think?

The Grand Eldar project.

Warlock and Hero

Its 5 am, I’m sitting here drinking my coffee, eating a sandwich, and thinking about this huge project in front of me. My Son was recently gifted a huge collection of miniatures, one of the gifts was a box filled with lead miniatures, included OOP (Out of print) Eldar. I promised my Son that I would build and paint said figures and started going through the box last night. I was flabbergasted; there are enough miniatures to create a huge army, or two regular size forces. So my thoughts at this time are to create two distinct armies, one good (Classic Eldar) and one evil (Renegade Pirates). I’ve owned and painted Eldar before, but because of unemployment I was forced to sell them on EBay. The following pictures are the lost figures from that collection.

OOP Classic Guardians

Warp Spiders

Hero and Warlock

OOP Guardians, I have these back !

Rangers and Warlocks

The Plan: Since it’s been a very long time since I’ve painted an army I wanted to have a solid plan of attack, going for a more unified looking army to boot and getting the most enjoyment out of the experience. With the classic Eldar I will pick one of the great houses and go with that color scheme, but the Pirates I want to do something special. The Eldar as a race is cursed; most being lost to the great Chaos power Slannesh and battling forever on just to survive. Now I know the Dark Eldar are Pirates and renegades and have their own list, but I wanted to create a force closer to the Rogue Trader origins. Not the fanciful Elf like bunch of pansies that battle today, but closer to the classic figure of Elric of Melniboné, a haunted people, fighting against a universe that has forgotten their greatness and must be taught who the masters of the Webways were. So I’m going to use a darker color scheme for these Eldar, dark, dirty, and fighting on to the last man, er Elf…
I’m thinking of going with this scheme:

I’m going to go with a few test paints consult with my Son and start the project.

I'm back!

Hey gang, I know my posting has been spotty and with out content lately, but I've been so busy with work and life, but now I'm going to be investing some more time on the hobby.  A new Eldar army, Dark Angels rework, OOP Tyranids, and Dark Heresy is coming your way.  Art and Gaming, at it's best, so please stay tuned!

Yesterday's Battle

Copied from Jeff's Post on the Forum:

We played 3 games. First was Imperial Guard vs. Chaos. They played the Chaos mission "Pillage" from Battle Missions. It's the one with objectives where each side gets scrap points or salvage points at the end of the opponent's turn if a unit is touching the objective. There were 5 objectives on the table. Highlights of the game were the Daemon Prince who took out a unit in close combat and a couple tanks. A unit of Khorne Berzerkers and Plague Marines were both wiped by pie plates. Watching that shit scares me. Not sure of the final tally, but it was decisive victory for the Imperial Guard.
Next up was Necrons vs. Blood Angels. Again, we played a mission from Battle Missions. This time it was "Ambush". In this mission, my entire army is deployed in a column and the Necrons deploy on either side. The game goes by Kill Points. This was a pretty bloody game where we ended up tied at 4 each. I just couldn't finish off any of his units because of the damn We'll Be Back.

Lastly, we played 2 on 2. Blood Angels and Imperial Guard vs. Necrons and Chaos.
