Alpha test of Zombie rules…

So Kevin, Andrea, and Jarrett joined me in testing out my Zombie Attack rules this Sunday. The game took about 4 ½ hours to complete, and I still have a lot of work ahead of me. The great die cast Vehicles were donated by my buddy Jim from Timewarp comics and games, he also game me a ton of scenery and figures to use. I will post pictures when completed. Here’s some shots of last nights game. I'm still using a version of Starship Troopers rules that my friend Mike started modifing, I did include tons of super heroes including Alice from the Resident Evil Movies. She's the girl on the motercycle.

Scenarios:
SWAT missions:
1) To search the city for the mayors missing children.
2) To find proof of the UMBRA Corporation’s involvement in the infection that is ravaging the city.

Survivor’s mission:
1) To rescue four family members scattered around the city. (The survivors from Left4Dead!)

UMBRA corporation tactical squad Mission:
1) Capture an infected human and return it to base.
2) Capture a super infected and return it to base (Tank, smoker, etc)

The game went about 7 turns, Kevin's SWAT team was destroyed to a man, Andrea had Alice and her team destroyed the most zombies in the game, Jarrett came closes to completing he's mission. over all a good time was had...

Marvel to enlist screenwriters to help develop new superhero films

With more than 5,000 crime fighters and villains in its library, Marvel Entertainment is assembling a group of screenwriters who will pen scripts for various properties Marvel wants to develop, Variety reported.

The writers' group will be similar to that created by the fellowship program the Walt Disney Co. has been running since 1990. That group enlists a dozen writers to work with creative executives to develop films for the studio and TV shows for ABC, the Disney Channel and ABC Family.

Marvel will invite up to five writers each year to work on specific projects, a source familiar with the deal told the trade paper. Those could include staffers behind Marvel's comic books.

The company will provide the specific pitches it wants the writers to tackle. Those could involve certain plot points for movies already in development or characters it would like to see on its future film slate.

Working and working….

I’ve been converting, rebasing, and painting Horrorclix figures for the last two weeks. I’m also working on the rules of the games I will be running at NJcon and Dexcon, and building a city scape. I was thinking instead of doing a Left4Dead game, I wanted to do an all inclusive Zombie apocalypse game including as much movie fluff and characters from some of the more famous zombie movies from the last 15 years. I’m thinking of having heroes from Resident evil, Dawn of the Dead, Shawn of the dead, and a few surprises. I will post some pictures soon, I’ve been very busy…

Here are some shots of the Horrorclix I got in the mail. About 50% are zombie type figures, I didn't get the Predator figure I was hoping for, it seems to be a special offer figure. I did get some great anti zombie commandos and other things I can use for the convention. I will be rebasing and painting for the next month or so...

Today is the day I get my 224 Horrorclix figures, I will post pics tonight. I’m hoping that I get a least 65% zombies with this order….

Wolverine's Ryan Reynolds reveals Deadpool secrets

Ryan Reynolds, who plays Wade Wilson (aka Deadpool) in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine, told a group of reporters that the January reshoots in Vancouver, Canada, were always built into his schedule, and not necessarily additions to the movie. He also hinted the character may be spun off in his own film.

The following Q&A features edited excerpts of a group interview on Saturday in Beverly Hills, Calif., where Reynolds was promoting the comedy Adventureland. X-Men Origins: Wolverine opens May 1.

Did you just get to do additional shooting to add more Deadpool to Wolverine?

Reynolds: Yeah, a lot of people thought that, but actually, when they approached me to play Deadpool, I was committed to doing two other movies, a movie called Paper Men, which is a small independent movie in New York City, and The Proposal, so I had a full plate already. They were shooting Wolverine in Australia, so that made things a little bit difficult. The idea was to shoot the Deadpool stuff after principal photography had finished. In effect, they weren't really reshoots. They were just additional shots and scenes that we needed to pick up. They didn't add really anything beyond the script.

How does it compare to having done Blade: Trinity?

Reynolds: Well, it's like night and day. I won't get into it too much, but I'll say that the Blade set was extraordinarily dysfunctional. So to work on a movie like Wolverine, it was incredible. Hugh Jackman is as classy as he is talented. That group of guys, you have all these enormous personalities in one room. Everybody was really amazingly chummy. Egos were checked at the door, I guess. I don't know what was going on, but I haven't been on a set that harmonious in a long time.

What's your take on Deadpool?

Reynolds: I play Wade Wilson, and I play Deadpool, but the character I play as Deadpool—Fox may differ from me—but I personally don't consider him to be Deadpool. I consider him to be the thing that Deadpool came from. It doesn't carry on past that. It's called Wolverine.

Has there been talk of a spinoff for him?

Reynolds: Yeah, maybe.

Would you be up for it?

Reynolds: Yeah, I love the character.

Do you wear the mask at all?

Reynolds: I'm not going to answer that.

Will we at least get to see the reasons he wears the mask?

Reynolds: Yeah, he's scarred up. You're going to see the scars. That's all in there.

Sam Raimi lets slip a few tidbits about Spider-Man 4

Spider-Man director Sam Raimi told MTV.com that he's working out ideas for an expected fourth Spider-Man

movie.

"The writers, producers and I are working out what the story will be, but we haven't been talking in terms of part four and five," Raimi told MTV News. "I've read that [about Spider-Man 5] also, but right now we're just working on the story for Spider-Man 4, just that one film."

Raimi added: "We're definitely talking about working from all the material in the comic books and nothing [invented] outside of that. All the characters or villains or villains, whatever we decide to do will be from Stan Lee's creations or those that came after him."

Villians? "I do have a pretty good idea, but I'm just not a liberty to say yet," he said coyly.

Both Raimi and Kirsten Dunst have both expressed interest in her returning as Peter Parker's unattainable girlfriend Mary Jane Watson, the filmmaker says he's currently unsure of her participation status and he's not privy to those negotiations.

"I can't imagine making a 'Spider-Man' movie without Kirsten," Raimi said. "Of course it can be done, because Spider Man has existed without the character of Mary Jane but she's one of my favorite parts, and it would be a shame not to have her in the picture. I'm hoping she'll be in it and I'm planning on having a story with her in it."

Marvel announced last week that Spider-Man 4 will come out on May 6, 2011.

Marvel delays release of Thor, Captain America, Avengers

Marvel Studios pushed back the release date of Thor, Captain America and The Avengers in a schedule shuffle it said was designed to maximize the visibility of its single-character superhero films, leading to the highly anticipated release of the multi-character Avengers.

Iron Man 2 remains on track for release on May 7, 2010. Spider-Man 4 remains slated for release on May 6, 2011.

Thor moves to June 17, 2011, from its original July 16, 2010, release date.

The First Avenger: Captain America is pushed back to July 22, 2011, from May 6, 2011.

The Avengers gets a new release date of May 4, 2012, moved from July 15, 2011.

"This new schedule strongly sequences Marvel's movie debut dates, big-screen character introductions and momentum," David Maisel, chairman of Marvel Studios, said in a statement.

A Marvel character-based film will now launch the summer box-office season for three years in a row, from 2010 through 2012.

Will Josh Hartnett and Alexander Skarsgard star in Thor?

A couple of tantalizing rumors about possible casting of Kenneth Branagh's proposed Thor movie have emerged.

IESB.net reported Tuesday that Josh Hartnett (30 Days of Night) has met with Branagh and is currently on "a very short list" to play the villain Loki in the film, based on the Marvel Comics series.

Hartnett is reportedly very interested in the part because he has never played a villain before, and after Heath Ledger's Oscar win for the latest comic-book villain, Hartnett is intrigued by the character, the site said.

That rumor followed one the same day by Latino Review, which cited an anonymous source saying that Branagh had dined with tall, blond actor Alexander Skarsgard (of HBO's True Blood and Generation Kill). He is the son of Stellan Skarsgard and certainly looks the part to play the Norse god superhero, though the site did not go so far as to suggest the dinner was about the movie.

Beslimed ancient Dalek head dredged from English pond

Alan sez, "Volunteers in Hampshire, England, discovered a Dalek head while cleaning trash from the bottom of a local pond!" They're keeping the pond's location a secret, because, "The last thing we want are sci-fi fans descending on the pond frantically seraching for other Dalek parts." Sales executive Marc Oakland was pushing a rake around the bed of the shallow pool when he found the object with its distinctive eye stalk.

The 42-year-old said: "I'd just shifted a tree branch with my foot when I noticed something dark and round slowly coming up to the surface.

"I got the shock of my life when a Dalek head bobbed up right in front of me.

"It must have been down there for some time because it was covered in mould and water weed, and had quite a bit of damage.

Plans within plans…

I’m really excited about the next two conventions I’m going to be doing. NJCON is in June. My friend Mike is running the convention and I hope to do a ton of games, Zombie Armageddon, Left4Dead, and even a Weird War Battle. I’m spending a lot of time converting some Horrorclix zombies and some old mage knight figures. Chopping them up, burning them, and then making them bloody, they make cool filler zombies. The SWAT teams are coming along, I’m working on the second squad tonight while watching the Sarah Conner Chronicles on DVD, and I’m going to get some scenery completed as well. I’m also trying to watch the first three seasons of Babylon Five. Most of my friends and my son love this show; I really never got into it but I’m going to try my best to get into it. Jarrett is now really in Vampire the Masquerade, this makes me giggle a little, I started playing this game back in the 1990’s and now my thirteen year old son is asking for rule books and his very own ankh. I will post the finished figs soon. –Cheers.
