Sheen Bites Into Underworld 3

The upcoming Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is a prequel that focuses on the character of Lucian (Michael Sheen), the Lycan who led his fellow werewolves in an uprising against their vampire masters.

"Well, it goes back into the story of Lucian," Sheen told reporters while promoting his latest film, the upcoming drama Frost/Nixon. "So, hopefully, it will allow people to watch the first one again in a different light, given what you learn about what happened before."
The movie sets the stage for the original UnderworldUnderworld: Evolution.
Sheen shared an anecdote about how the worlds of an actor occasionally collide in the strangest of ways. Well after wrapping production on Frost/Nixon and while in New Zealand to film Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Sheen received a phone call from Frost/Nixon
"Then the message came [that Howard] just needed one line, which in the film is me going, 'And next week ... ,'" Sheen said. "And he just needed that one line. So instead of going into the studio, I did it in my trailer on the set of Underworld. So there I am, dressed as a werewolf, with an arrow through my arm, covered in blood, and blood all over me, going, 'And next week ... '"
Sheen added, "I got someone to take a photo of me doing it. And there I am as Lucian in Underworld with the Frost piranha underbite, and I sent it to Ron."
Directed by Patrick Tatopoulos and co-starring Bill Nighy and Rhona Mitra, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans opens on Jan. 23, 2009. --Ian Spelling and its sequel, director Ron Howard, who asked him to loop a few lines of dialogue.

See The Animated Terminator Poster!

The makers of director McG's upcoming prequel film Terminator Salvation have released an unusual Flash-animated poster for the film. Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, the film stars Christian Bale as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind. Left4Day Weekend madness!

OK, I did have to take my son to a swim meet, which just about took the whole Saturday, but boy that evening we had a ton of fun! Left4day, a real gut wrenching, fast shooting, and fear filled zombie Massacre! HOLY CRAP! It was like playing in both 28 days movies and the new Dawn of the dead with some Resident evil mutants thrown in for a grand finish! My son and I played the whole weekend with my brother online, the animation is so realistic, zombies running at you full tilt, blowing them away with Uzi, pistols, and shotguns. Watching them just attack is frightening! Mobbing up on fellow survivors and then having one of the four “bosses” show up to finish us off is too much! If you haven’t purchased this insane zombiefest go out now!

Xbox 360 Update

Well I just download the new update to my Xbox 360, it looks very cool. I’m hoping to get a gold membership this weekend to watch Netflix on my TV and play Left4Dead with my son and brother. I can’t wait!!!

Forster Helms Paramount's War Z

Paramount has set Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster to helm World War Z, based on the Max Brooks best-selling novel about a worldwide infestation of flesh-eating zombies, Variety reported. Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski is writing the screenplay, and Brad Pitt's Plan B is producing. Brooks--the son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft--wrote a detailed tale in which a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission interviews survivors from countries all over the world, 10 years after the crisis, to gather a first-person post-mortem on a war that obliterated every country on the map. Paramount bought the book for Plan B in 2006, and it is one of several high-profile projects for the company headed by Pitt, who next stars for the studio in the David Fincher-directed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

So Victorian Horror, that can work, I would lean more towards Lovecraft and Wild Wild West. But I do love the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I will have to look at my collection and see what I can pull from there. Also Steam Punk and Victorian Super Science ala Steamboy. I'm going to have to look into this...

Thoughts about 2009 projects…

My son pretty much dictates what I do lately with all of my gaming. Warhammer 40k and D&D we have covered, Zombie apocalypse and weird World War 2 is now pretty much covered. But I’m not sure what direction I want to go with now with my figure/gaming collecting. I do want to create those Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. armies, also AIM, but I getting a little bored and want a new direction. If you’re reading this, please provide me with some cool ideas to think about for next year…

New Watchmen Poster

Warner Brothers released a second teaser poster for its upcoming superhero movie Watchmen, featuring the image of Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley). The movie, directed by Zack Snyder and based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' seminal graphic novel, opens March 6, 2009.

Joe Johnston to Direct Captain America!

Joe Johnston has signed on to direct Marvel Studios' First Avenger: Captain America, based on characters developed by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. The film will be produced by Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige. Executive Producers on the project are Louis D'Esposito, Stan Lee and Marvel Studios' Chairman David Maisel. Paramount Pictures will distribute First Avenger: Captain America worldwide. The film will come to theaters domestically on May 6, 2011.

Here's the official logline: In the early days of the Marvel Universe, Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

Johnston is currently directing The Wolfman, which hits theaters on April 3. He is developing The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud. Johnston previously directed October Sky, Jumanji, Jurassic Park III, The Rocketeer and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Johnston won an Academy Award® in 1982 for Best Visual Effects for Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Marvel Studios most recently announced an agreement with Raleigh Studios to film each of its next four films at Raleigh’s facility in Manhattan Beach, CA which will include First Avenger: Captain America

Xbox 360 weekend with the boy

I spent the weekend with my son and his new obsession Fallout 3.
The game is filled with apocalyptic coolness, even I woke up early to sneak some game time while my son slept. Like the game Oblivion, It’s a total world to explore, you can do quests but walking in any direction will have you exploring the wasteland that Washington DC has become after the bombs have fallen. You could be good, evil, or just neutral, I’m going for a good guy, helping the town’s folk of Megaton and battling evil mutated people, animals, and deadly robots. I’m sure you can read all about the game at their website, it’s worth the cost.
Maybe I'll figure out some rules to play it on the table top.

Once again thinking about the Weird War….

Looking at the other groups out there for ideas about Weird World War 2, I want to go in my own direction. I love the idea of RIFTS, taking the idea that Nazi Germany was using its horrible deeds to open portals to gather power makes sense to me. Movies and comic books like Hellboy and Indiana Jones hit on this idea a lot. Also Graphic novels like The Life Eaters, show’s Germany doing hellish things to gather power for the third Reich. So my Axis powers will have supernatural elements as well as super science. The American’s with the Manhattan project, Tesla science, and downed UFO technology will have super science as well, but having a long history of vigilantism, will also have super heroes and mavericks doing their best for the allies. The British government has a long history of supernatural elements and a warrior creed that has spanned thousands of years. I’m sure super science and the power of Camelot will protect the queen. The Russians also have a long history of supernatural elements and a warrior creed; Baba Yaga, Rasputin, and spectral Cossacks will help stop the axis push into the motherland. Gas weapons, nerve gas, and horrible biological weapons will also come into play. Most basic troops will have to have gas mask and other protection just to stay alive on the battlefield at all times. I want to start setting my gaming forces to reflect these ideas… what are your thoughts?

New Dr. Who Trailer!

David Tennant is to stand down as Doctor Who, after becoming one of the most popular Time Lords in the history of the BBC science fiction show.

Tennant stepped into the Tardis in 2005, and will leave the role after four special episodes are broadcast next year.

He made the announcement after winning the outstanding drama performance prize at the National Television Awards.

"When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won't be with me," he said. "I don't ever want it to feel like a job, so I want to move on when it still feels exciting and fresh. Now don't make me cry... I love this part, and I love this show so much that if I don't take a deep breath and move on now I never will, and you'll be wheeling me out of the Tardis in my bath chair."

'I'll miss it'

Three years was "about the right time" to play the role, he told the BBC in an exclusive interview. "I think it's better to go when there's a chance that people might miss you, rather than to hang around and outstay your welcome," he said.

His stint in the show had been "the most extraordinary time, it's been bewildering, life changing, very exciting", he said.

"And just so much fun, such a great show to work on. That's one of the reasons I think it's right to take a deep breath and bow out when it's still fun, when it's a novelty. I don't ever want it to feel like a job, so I want to move on when it still feels exciting and fresh and that means I'll miss it."

Russell T Davies, executive producer, said: "I've been lucky and honoured to work with David over the past few years - and it's not over yet, the Tenth Doctor still has five spectacular hours left!

"After which, I might drop an anvil on his head. Or maybe a piano. A radioactive piano. But we're planning the most enormous and spectacular ending, so keep watching."

New Fanboys Date, Trailer

A new trailer and release date have gone live for the long-delayed Fanboys on Yahoo! Movies. (The trailer is embedded below.)

The Star Wars-themed spoof, starring Dan Fogler, Kristen Bell, Jay Baruchel, Christopher Marquette and Sam Huntington, will open on Feb. 6, 2009. It was originally slated for release in August 2007.
