Good morning Interwebs!

I had a good weekend with my Spooky wife, no kids, but I did have a lot of chores.
I did get to do a lot of cool stuff; Raven came over for a visit. She brought us cool stuff and gifts like she always does. We spoke about going over there for July 4th, I have a four day weekend, and we then checked out garage sales and had lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant. I got to watch the first part of the fantastic Doctor who season finale, and I caught up on Battlestar Galactica's third season on DVD.
No real gaming this weekend, but I did play with my son online with UT2004, and he has now a steam id so we can play Garry’s mod.

Painting this week will be some new Space ganger figures I got in trade, heavy walkers from Shock Force, and some old fantasy figures I need to finish up. Playing hooky today, we moved our TV to a smaller table and I hurt my back. Boo!

RPGing in the world of RIFTS….

I’m always trying to help my son with new and interesting ways to game with all the gaming stuff we own. I started collecting Rifts books back in the 1990’s because the book covers were so damn cool looking. Battle Cyborgs, power suits, demons, and fantasy elements all rolled up in a new game of wonder. My son Loves rpgs, I’ve never really been into them, I’m a Science fiction war gamer, but I will play anything with my son.

Rifts uses an interesting battle system where super suits and magical monsters take damage in a different way then basic damage is done. It’s called MEGA damage VS basic damage. It works this way. Hit points for humans and basic things like cars and tanks are called SDC (structural damage capacity), but monsters and Mechs are Mega damage creatures (mega damage capacity). 1 MDC = 100 SDC another words, 1 mega damage hit point equals 100 regular hit points. Wow, think of it this way, a pistol does 1D6 of damage SDC (structural damage capacity), a gun can kill a person with let’s say 20 HP (SDC), a MECH has 20 HP (MDC), this means the MECH has 2000 HP. You could unload all day with that pistol, but you’re going to do nothing to it. MEGA damage weapons do MDC damage to MDC Creatures and robots; a MDC Plasma gun does 1D6 MDC which means 1000 to 6000 HP to an SDC creature or 1-6 MDC to that creature, crazy right?

It’s a new ball game with these types of super weapons, and I’m having a hard time trying to rap my mind around all the science fiction weapons my old game systems have access too. But my son is having a fun time with it, and we are having very interesting battles with these new sets of rules.

The Life Eaters...

I'm reading this right now...

The Life Eaters is a 2003 science fiction graphic novel written by David Brin and art by Scott Hampton. It was published by Wildstorm. The story is based on Brin's Hugo-nominated novella Thor Meets Captain America, featuring an alternate history scenario where the Nazis won World War II.
The history of the graphic novel follows ours, until one night during the winter of 1943, when a number of bright lights appeared over Nazi-occupied Europe. Intentionally or otherwise, the slaughter of the death camps has somehow been used to summon the Aesir, Norse gods. Quickly allying themselves with the gods, the Nazis are able to push aside their mortal foes. The extended war has an amazing effect on human technology - by the fifties, the American military has a manned spy satellite.

The trickster, Loki, works against his fellow Aesir. On the night they arrived, Loki used his magic to whisk hundreds of thousands of death camp internees to safety in Persia. Thanks to his knowledge of magic, the American government cracks the necromancy angle - before that, they had assumed the Aesir were secretly alien invaders. (This is a reversal of roles from the The Mighty Thor series of Marvel Comics, which partially inspired Brin, and where Loki is the unquestioned villain).

As the Nazis continue to conquer the world, with the help of their Japanese allies(and their Shinto gods), the story of the necromancy spreads. As a result of "Asian faith and African desperation... and all the madness of the tropics", the multiple gods of the developing world are given form through human sacrifice, band together and fight the Aesir(who have to keep to colder regions). As the Tropicals advance, they burn the Arabian oilfields, leading to global warming. With the atomic-armed Nazis beginning to understand the principles of nuclear winter, the remaining free Americans must race against time to prevent the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy...

dreams, everywhere.....

It was a long night of mindtripping through the Neon forevers for me. Had an Epic of all dreams last night. I have no clue what the hell it all means.
There fading fast now, after getting up and driving to work, I can only remember bits and pieces, but a few things stick out. Spooky and I were checking out this small dog. The dog was really tiny, it looked kind of cute, but I knew there was something wrong with it. At one point the dog's head starts to grow, and the mouth bursts with these shark like teeth. The dog starts to attack Spooky, and I grab the thing and throw it against a wall, it rolls over and starts to charge again, and I shoot it in the head. (?) me guns? ah...no. Well anyway, I'm watching this damned dog start to regrow it's head, and I figure it's an Immortal Hell Hound or something. ( My luck) I grab the carcass and take it to a wall that's being repaired in this building. I throw it into the hole, and seal it up before it returns from the dead. Dream shift. I'm not there anymore. It's sometime in the future. Some Police are busting up some kind of party in the same House. The Cops are searching all over to find the kids who are hiding after the Rave was broken up. One of the Cops hears a noise in the walls, and decides to kick in the wall. Releasing a now, larger, hungry, and undead Hellhound. It rips the Cop squad into pieces and goes stalking through the night. There's more to this dream, when I think about it I'll write more....

Part two.
I was going to RCN, for some kind of Costume party. I had rigged up a full Batboy get-up to amuse the fellow agents. But Patrick had out done me by coming as a completely realistic looking Vampire, I was bummed.

Part three.
I was being hunted by the dog. It could not be killed, and was now free to destroyed it's captures. It's body had grown and toughened to look like rotted stone. Black meat hung in lumps off the bone, but the body looked stronger. The maw was rotted away, and yellow teeth and black gums were exposed. Sharper then Katanas and infected with all known ills. This thing was more Horsemen then Hell hound, and it was looking for me. I could feel all the people I had known over the years being killed and dragged away into the darkness. Lights going out all over the world. It's was only me and Kelly left, and the dogs had grown to legion. No hope, no way out, and the howling of the dogs....

Part four.
Walking in the darkness....
No one left, I tried to save Kelly, but she fell into a pit and I could hear her screams and the ripping of bloody meat. I had a cross in one hand and a Magnum in the other. The Sun was rising, and I was walking up a hill. I looked upon the world from there and I could see the devastation for miles. Everyone was dead. Fires burning out of control, and movement of the hell Hounds in the ruins. I sat down hard and kissed the cross, then put the gun to my head. (BEEP BEEP BEEP).... good morning....

Invasions in the future...

So I spent the entire weekend watching old Dr. who episodes and the Sarah Jane adventures. I’m doing this because of the season final which is coming up this weekend. Sarah Jane, Torchwood, and the children of time are going to be fighting the new Dalek empire. I can’t wait for this Sunday, a great big alien invasion of Earth! I’ve always loved alien invasions; my first love is War of the worlds, by HG Wells. I’ve always wanted a Tripod and to recreate the battle for England during that time frame. Here are some cool art pieces I’ve found online…

Weird World War 2 rules...

So I’m still reviewing a lot of rules for Weird World War 2. The Battlefield rules I got from Brian are pretty cool, I love the morale and gut roles. Plus the spotting rules are very cool and thought out. The tank rules are good, I will be using those for sure, but I think I’m going to still be using the Nazimunda rules I’ve found on the net. The reason is I’ve been playing Warhammer 40k since the 1980’s and it’s hard to break the mold when it comes to new rules. But I will be using all the morale, spotting, and vehicles rules…
I still want to do weird war adventures with my gaming group...
Something like the movie to the left, I just have to write up my own rules. I'm sure I can do this...
I will post my ideas in the future...

PS: I'm almost done with all the Hellboy comics, Thanks Kelly!

New WWW3 Figures...

Here are some newly painted figures... from http://www.battlegroundweirdwarii.com and Warzone...

Luftfaust and Battle suit,
My buddy Kampfgruppe Cottrell, stated this on the forum for rules on this bad boy...

I think when I had those minis(Battle suit) I kept them as a basic infantryman but they would receive a +9 to any damage. They ignore all suppression unless in a 150mm+ blast and their close combat fist gave it a -5 in close combat and a armor penetration of 5 with a +2 to the result. Like John said, any 1 rolled negated the +9 to damage with a additional -2 to the roll. This represents the head being only the real unarmored part of the body.

I also made the weapon a 20mm auto-cannon with a additional die for it's ROF and a Jam rate of 19 or 20. If it rolled 2 Jams in one action the weapon either jammed to where it was disabled or it ran out of ammo. I usually do stuff like this to make Weird War II tech somewhat unreliable and also keeps the players honest so they don't get to confident in their super weapons. You could even make it a 37mm if you wanted, those barrels look pretty big! Grin

By the way, stats for the 20mm and 37mm are in the artillery section and are at the end in the charts of all the German artillery and flak weapons. You'd be tempted but I wouldn't make it the quad 20mm flak, that's a bit to much over kill Wink

If you have any questions about the rules shoot me a message and I'd be happy to help out.
-hopefully i will playing with them soon-

Hotter then Heck...

I'm dying...
I've not left my home, 98 degrees outside...
Ugh.

My new Hellboy

It's taken 4 months, but I finally got a hellboy fig for my collection from EBay. I've repainted and rebased it!

Well my digital camera crapped out.

The battle was just a basic one to get everybody to learn the “new” rules. Mainly three rifle squads per side and a tank, but we did use some of Brian’s zombie’s rules to spice it up. BTW, Brian, your zombie rules are out of control, they are damn hard to put down, and the fear factor can make the strongest vet run for it. A small village in the center with a main street running throughout the entire board.
The battle was a basic push to clear out a French town of German infantry and one tank. The airborne forces had three squads, two with LMG’s and one with a bazooka teams. The Germans had basic rifles, smg’s, and grenades, plus the tank (Panzer IV D). The battle went pretty fast, the kids picking up the rules faster then I would have thought. The Americans were having a tough time clearing out the dug in Germans, and if the zombies didn’t make an appearance, they would have given up the ghost. But, the old abbey that one of the German squads was holding was resting on a necropolis controlled by a necromancer, who HATED to be disturbed during his work hours…about six zombies, came shambling out of the tombs, reaching and destroying one of the German squads. This quickly increased the zombie horde by double after a few D20 rolls, the tank had no clue what was happening with their support infantry, when the newly dead started reaching through the vision slots to say hello to their comrades. (Thank the gods for the button up rule!) The American’s thought that the French citizens were helping out finally, maybe the resistance. They were wrong… The finale outcome all the Germans but the tank were eaten, the tank routed and the Americans fell back as well…
The only winners in this battle were the necromancer and his new found minions…
The occult studies group really need to investigate this…
